mp2Marco Palmieri is an editor at Tor Books, one of the world’s leading publishers of imaginitive fiction, where he’s privileged to  work with authors such as Gregory Benford, James Cambias, Ofir Touché Gafla, Max Gladstone, Paul Melko, L. E. Modesitt, Jr., Larry Niven, Brian Staveley, S. M. Wheeler, F. Paul Wilson, Gene Wolfe, and many others.

Marco’s editorial career began in 1991 as a marketing publications specialist for DC Comics. Five years later, he joined Simon & Schuster, where from 1996-2008 he acquired and edited more than 200 titles of fiction and nonfiction, including a number of national bestsellers. During that time, he was known for giving new writers opportunities to prove themselves, and nurtured many of them toward successful writing careers.

Marco began freelancing in 2008, and in 2010, after he was approached by a number of authors seeking his assistance as a private editorial consultant, he formalized that service with the launch of Otherworld Editorial. He joined the editorial staff at Tor in 2011.

Upbeat by nature, Marco lives by a very simple idea, which he strives to impart to the writers under his care: that pessimism is a misuse of imagination.
